Hi, Carol, that shows that shoes really aren't necessary for children. I guess if we try we'll find out none of the shoes fit any more and we can safely get rid of them. Certainly liberating!

I assume there's only the issue of very cold frosty days in winter then. Though my children all did well around the freezing point.

My youngest son is now ten, he had six friends visiting for his garden party (happily barefoot like all of us) and one of them (who's living a 15 minutes walk away) came barefoot from home, it looks like my son has a good influence on him ... hehe. I saw them comparing their feet, my son's are still considerably tougher and a little wider, he has a nice V-shaped splay of his toes. Recently I bought him new shorts and jeans, he's still rolling up the legs over his bare feet but it looks like he's growing quite fast now so at some point he won't have to do that ... Now that it's warm he's always in shorts of course. I'm just happy I don't have to find shoes for his quickly growing feet!
