They don't seem to need shoes for anything, at least not now in summer. Their young feet are doing remarkably well even on hot road surfaces, though they prefer grass and water where they can. We will see if temperatures get very cold next winter but having played outside frequently around the freezing point, even in snow, I don't see it getting too cold for them. Maybe for an extended snow hike if it really gets that snowy, or wintersports such as skiing or snowboarding.

Yes it gets a lot easier once going barefoot is an everyday thing (and others don't know them any other way, so there are no bad remarks at school from teachers or children). Besides all the fun experiences and health benefits, not having to keep track that shoes still fit on each child is certainly much easier for parents too!
