Not really thought about this so can only provide details of my own situation and family to help you decide. I'm 35 mother of two from SA. My two are ages 9 and 6 and both live barefoot and happily completely barefoot from September/October time to March/April. It's just part of the culture here and the accepted norm that children under maybe 13 go barefoot everyday everywhere and enjoy the barefoot life.
