I definitely like how all my children enjoy walking barefoot in almost all temperatures and often like to test their limits (with all due caution). It gives me a smile when they encourage others to try the same and I'd definitely support that decision, though I might give advice (mostly: if your feet hurt or get numb it's definitely enough). The children I know are sane enough to stop doing something when it stops feeling good, though.

When meeting other parents I have occasionally pointed out the practical advantages of having a bunch of dedicated barefooters as children. They might express worries that they could get injured, but then I just point them to the experience with my own children: The best way to learn watching where you step is to make every way barefoot, whether you are in the countryside or in the city.

As the night and morning temperatures are going down in fall, my sons and my daughter are now going out in the morning in long pants, bare feet and jackets, though around noon it can still get warm enough for shorts.
