We are better than half way thru Lanier's second year as head coach. Maybe we can write off last year's overall record to inexperience. They won the MAAC tourney and the first game of the NCAA because he finally figured out who to play at the point (something everyone else knew from the start, Prosper) and let them freelance a little on offense. Here we are in February and he finally figures it out again. You play the regular season games for a possible NIT selection, and the MAAC tourney for a trip to the NCAA's. I think he loses focus on the former. Regarding the offense, I think it's time we see another motion offense. Everyone knows the "the guard dribbles down court and goes to the right or left and passes to the center who comes out high to reverse the ball and then goes back down low" offense. I know there are different options using it, but isn't it time we see something a little different. I had more offensive sets coaching CYO. If he doesn't know offense very well then he needs to surround himself with people who do and listen to them. Having said all that, his one saving grace is that he recruited a GREAT freshmen class. If that continues, we will have a lot to look forward to in years to come, provoded he let's them mix up the offense a little.
