I will keep you all posted on things here. I am going to leave and look for my niece who is still not home yet. I am not going to use maintenance spankings and although we appreciate everything here from everyone. But I will be given her a spanking like my sister and I used to receive growing up. Thank you all again for everything.

Hi Dean from a fellow parent of a preteen.

Your situation sounds almost identical to mine when I first started out. My daughter is now 12 and is a completely different person from a year ago. She is polite, respectful and a joy to be with. And I owe it all to starting maintenance sessions similar to what Lindsay is describing a couple of weeks after I thought her behavior was going to result in me giving her up for adoption. Not really but close.

I'm telling you you have a real gift in Lindsay saying that she'll work with you. I know that she has been very successful here and has turned many lives around. I'm telling you that situations like you dealt with tonight will disappear and you are going to feel a lot closer to your niece than you ever have and her mommy will too. I'm also telling you that she will come to look forward to maintenance sessions for the wonderful comforting and cuddling as much as anything else.

I really wish someone had told me more about this when I was first starting out. Fortunately only took me a couple of weeks, but just remember when you're getting frustrated by hit and miss spanking, maintenance is almost magical. And from reading this forum, don't take my word for it, I'd say ask any of the 20 or more parents who are being successful with it here.

Good luck to you regardless, Ellen
