Subject: PCI card success
In reply to: Phil C. 's message, "Re: TV/FM Tuner vs Video/TV for Takky" on 09:08:07 01/29/02 Tue

Well, I was succesful installing a PCI card in my 5500/225 PCC withOUT a 3.3 regulator. Many of the posters here are certain that a card like a video card will not work and I think they may be right about that. My next project includes a Voodoo 3 PCI card. I might try to run it without a regulator to see if it can be done. My internals are: LC power supply running IDE drive and SCSI Zip. Analog board running case and MB fan, logic board, CRT, and Proxim (farallon) Ethernet adapter. I did not use a right angle adapter as the Farallon pn993 card is just as high as a CS II card and fit with minor plastic modification to the middle section and the hard drive sled. It is a 10/100 card and can be purchased for $24.99 from proxim.com. If I had a right angle adapter, I think I would have used it. But, I could not find one for cheap enough and just decided to use the Farallon card.
Scott
