Subject: Possible new barrel distortion fix

I was talking with a repairman I know at a local monitor repair shop about these CC mods. I told him I'd done the VGA mod (the low-stress one), and even added the cap with a little improvement in the barrel distortion. It's still bowed somewhat.

He gave me an interesting tidbit to try--he said to increase the capacitor value off of the yoke return. For example, if there's a 3.9uF cap there, try increasing it to 4.7 uF. He claims that should increase the drive enough to allow more control of the barrel distortion.

I haven't yet had time to pull my CC back apart, but maybe someone here might have time to look before I do? What you'll be looking for is a capacitor off the (one of the?) ground wires coming from the picture tube yoke.

He's also offered to look at it if I bring it down to his shop, which I might do in the next couple of weeks.
