Chris has answered re CPU/bus speed relationships.

The 575 board can be clocked to 40MHz fairly easily. Beyond that, faster VRAM may be needed (it is on my 42MHz 575). Much beyond that, I understand that the serial ports stop working OK.

Since the whole machine is working at the new rate, a 40MHz 575 should be around 21% faster for CPU and memory intensive stuff - and screen writing, I guess.
