Subject: Re: RAM Doubler and Speed Doubler on a Mystic?
In reply to: Dr. Webster 's message, "Re: RAM Doubler and Speed Doubler on a Mystic?" on 11:01:07 12/29/01 Sat

I'm running RAM Doubler 8 as well as Speed Doubler on an 8 meg 575 mystic running 7.6.1 and it worked fine on both 7.5.3 and on 7.1 before my hi-res upgrade. I must admit tht I have not tried to use software recently that has challenged my onboard RAM but I did not find that it decreased my speed. With RAM Doubler 8 you have a dial type adjuster that allows you to set whatever mutiplier you want to your current RAM. I believe that the lower figures will speed up your challenging RAM heavy programs. I used to set it to 50% more RAM instead of double. Check it out. It's quite a sophisticated software than it was before. But in summary, pure RAM is always better than software like RAM Doubler but RAM Doubler is about the best alternative to real Ram and a much better alternative than Virtual Memory.
Any other opinions please.
