Subject: Mystic Conversion Problem/Questions

I just converted a Color Classic to a Mystic with an LC575 board. I also performed the "safe" VGA modification. Everything's working, but several questions remain.

1) Should I expect the internal microphone to work? Trying to record sounds with it generates only a low level digital 'buzz.'

2) After performing the safe VGA mod, I played around with adding a capacitor to eliminate the remaining barrel distortion. Adding a 4700 pF at 3000 volts made the most difference, but I still can't get the screen wide enough. I also noticed that, after adjusting the picture as best I can, then putting the back on, the distortion worsens. I suspect that the power supply is marginal, and the case fan pushes it over the edge.

Larry Pina had some excellent analog board rebuilding/toughening-up advice for early compact Macs in several of his books. He didn't cover the Color Classic to my knowledge. Does anyone know if someone has rebuilt CC analog boards that can share tips on how to refurbish them? I could go through the board and simply replace all the electrolytic caps, but without some pointers I probably wouldn't replace some high-frequency part with the correct one and I'd blow something up.

3) Does anyone know where I can get a schematic of the CC analog board?

Thanks in advance for your help!
