OK, the 64MB SIMM came in via FedEx ground today. Took a bit longer than I was expecting for Velocity to process the order - I didn't get confirmation of shipping until yesterday.

There are eight chips arranged horizontally on one side of the board and none on the other side. The SIMM is a 16x32, 4K refresh, double-banked, 60ns, 5.0V, FPM, 64MB module.

Caveat #1: The SIMM is only recognised as 32MB. I strongly suspect this is due to one of two things:

a) the LC575 board only allowing/recognising 16MB of RAM per bank.
b) the LC575 board requiring 2K refresh or faster.

If anyone has an LC575 successfully running 64MB or more of RAM, please let us know EXACT specifications on the RAM module. (RAM size, # of chips, # of banks, speed, refresh rate, vendor, etc.) Knowing ROM version of your LC575 board would also be helpful; the part numbers on the ROM chips will be sufficient.

Caveat #2: The SIMM is about 5mm too tall to fit under the security screw housing in the case. The only way to get it in is to leave it halfway installed (at an angle), slide the board in, and then snap it vertically into place. This is a problem, because I have no idea how I'm going to get it out without totally disassembling the chassis.

Anyone who has one of these on order and hasn't gotten their order shipped yet might want to call Velocity and cancel. Anyone who is looking for a 64MB RAM module, Velocity isn't the place to get it. I'm going to be doing some checking around with other places to see if I can track down a 2K refresh module, but I'd rather not spend another $40-50 until I know what the problem is.
