Subject: Re: CC575 Ethernet Woes - Replacing w/Apple cards?
In reply to: Al Miner 's message, "Re: CC575 Ethernet Woes - Replacing w/Apple cards?" on 11:48:59 06/29/01 Fri

I replaced the Asante LC/PDS card with a Genuine Apple Comm I Slot card that I bought on eBay and FINALLY was able to connect to our Ethernet LAN.

First, I tried the Genuine Apple Comm I Slot card with System 7.1 but that didn't work. My 'puter crashed when I tried to switch the AppleTalk connection to "Ethernet".

Next, I used (a clean install of) System 7.5.3 with OpenTransport Networking vers.1.1 and _that_ worked.

Then, I upgraded to System 7.5.5 with the same OT 1.1 and _that_ worked as well.

As for the Asante LC/PDS card, I'll wait to see if the card will work with the CC I have on the way just to see if the card was bad or not.

Thanks to Chris Lawson and Al Miner for all of their input on the matter.

-Makoto
