Here's my accumulated knowledge of corporal punishment particularly concerning older children on the bare:
From what I've learned is in the US, pentecostals are big on the type of spankings typically discussed here, proudly through the teenage years. In the eastern US apparently "a switch" is still used. Baptists seem to be set on belt whipping, and on more than just the bottom and thighs. In Catholic Latin America I believe the belt is common but to degree depending on region. In Russia discipline is considered a private matter. The neighbors and law turn a blind eye. During the Soviet era a loop or electrical cord was very common. In China and southeast Asia they use the hand and cane on the bare bottom. Not sure to what age.
