Trophies for a Feis can cost well over $6,000. Sashes and medals are a couple thousand dollars as well. Before you complain try pricing out the cost to run a Feis in your local area. Remember there are Judges(3-6 depending on Feis) get paid plus room and board. Musicians (1-2) get paid plus room and board. Feis host service iie: Feisworx a couple thousand depending on dancer numbers and tabulation services. Venues can run a couple thousand depending on type, hotel, community center etc.. the nicer the more expensive. It may seem like hosts are racking in money when you pay your $100-$150 fee, but the overhead to give your dancer a Feis is a huge financial hit often barely breaking even and most schools cannot afford to lose money any more than you can.
