People in the UK and the east coast have a lot more opportunities to feis. We go months between competitions out here while people back east and in the UK are competing a couple times a month. And it doesn’t just happen at worlds, it also happens at Nationals.

Another thing I’ve noticed is that it’s important to have an ADCRG who is working often associated with your school. Not because of cheating, but because the teachers need to see more dancers, who aren’t their own, competing. We went to school where the teacher was just a TCRG and most of their exposure was to WR dancers, and they simply didn’t have the exposure and experience to get their dancers up to a high enough caliber of dancing.

Everyone jumps to blaming cheating and while there is some going on, I think the possibility of getting 20-25 judges all in line (5 per round for 5 rounds) to fix a result is near impossible.

The top dancers truly stand out and sad to say, but most WR dancers just don’t have what it takes between the form, the steps and the execution. Rather than blaming politics and cheating, I think parents and teachers need to take a long hard look objective look at the top dancers and work on getting our kids up to that level.
