The best way to keep the feises going is to support ones in hotels by staying in hotel rooms to keep ballrooms more affordable, enter raffles, donate time or raffle baker’s, etc. The reality is finding suitable affordable facilities is extremely difficult, the expense of out of area Feis staff, nice awards etc. Feises committee tend of thousands of dollars well in advance of knowing entries and if they can break even. Breaking even is the general goal of many feises. Obviously some are focused on profit but in my observation not most.
