Subject: It is US who are ultimately responsible for this. We pay tuition and entrance fees and are too scared of our TCs to demand reasonable changes. (More)

Which of you is going to be the first to say you aren’t going because it is a unfair financial burden for families outside driving distance, between the fees and travel expenses, and that the rental car requirements of an offsite hotel creates a further barrier?

As much as parents complain every year the schools in AZ and NM must think this 8+ year contract with the Grand is pretty nice. They can send more teams and dancers than any school in Northern California or the Northwest ever reasonably could. You can’t place if you don’t show up.

Which of YOU is going to say you’re withholding tuition until there is an independent board of directors at the region that includes parent, dancer and auditor representatives? And transparency in communications, and an ombudsman, and the technical competence to manage events like this …

You’re all thinking, “If I complain, TC will punish my family and my dancer.” And “If I complain and don’t go, that kid who is always placing nearly the same as my kid will take my kid’s spot in the recalls.” I love our TC but I do not love this system.

You shojld have learned from the last 18 months that the law will do nothing to fix this sport. We are all still watching dancers named in those texts posing on the socials with their sashes.

The only thing that will change anything is the threat of withholding our tuition dollars, and parent-dancer organization. Maybe a recently retired senior dancer will pick up this torch.
