James, it can be a real pain. We went on a roadtrip for Easter break, and our 15yo (Peter) had a major accident in the back of the car (number 2). We had to pull into the next gas station to change him. My plan was to change him in the mens' restroom, but there wasn't really enough space without blocking the door. So I ended up changing him on one of the picnic tables outside, which wasn't ideal. It was embarassing for him as there were a few other families eating lunch nearby who got a good look at his naked body, but we didn't really have many other options.

We were all quite hungry by this point, so we grabbed lunch ourselves at the station afterwards. We keep both of our boys in their 'home clothes' while travelling - completely naked except for their diapers - so they had a lot of people looking at them, and a few especially curious folk (kids and adults) came over to ask us why they were dressed like that. The boys were mortified as we explained the details of their diaper discipline - they have to wear diapers 24/7, they have to pee and poop in them instead of being allowed to use a toilet, and so on. I like to think that we inspired at least some of the parents to put their own kids back in diapers!
