Your descriptions of the situation in your own family as well as what you wrote about Mary's thoughts are very interesting and insightful.
I think it's good that you don't make blanket judgements and personally think that everyone has to find the right way for themselves.
I find your thoughts on the "chastity diaper" very inspiring, especially for pubescent girls.
I only know of harsher measures such as tunnel plugs as a short-term method of increasing punishment or for children who steadfastly refuse to wear diapers. Opinions can certainly differ on that.
I see it similarly with the use of catheters, although I have heard from several parents that temporary catheter treatment, during the holidays or something like that, definitely helps with acceptance of the diaper. Longer catheterization always leads to reduced bladder control (at least temporarily) and supports 24/7 diaper training.
I don't even want to discuss the question of whether older children who participate in a regular social life can be kept in diapers 24/7 - there are probably completely contradictory views on this.
