Subject: Halftime Report

Although the calender and the # of games played do not indicate that we are at the halfway point, I always consider the end of OOC play to be the halfway point. I will give Loyola absolutely no respect here and say the Stags will be 7-5, 3-0 going into the weekend, with a very telling 4 game road trip to follow. I personally had them at 8-4 at this point, so I'm down a game.
With the Yale win, if FF gets to 18 wins they are an NIT lock, but this team is capable of more.
The 4 game road trip can set up the stretch run, 1-3 and there isn't much to get pumped about yet, 2-2 and FF has an excellent shot at 1st regular season, 3-1 and they will run away with regular season title. I don't think it is reasonable to expect 4-0. Remember, 7 of the last 11 are at home, with 2 road games at St. Pete's and Loyola late in the season, so they have a legitimate shot at getting on a roll going into the post season.
Ajou's foot is slowly improving, look for more production starting with Loyola, he was 2 steps slow against Duke, and only 1 step against Yale. Not there yet, but February could be very interesting. What do the FF faithful think???

Shoot me for jinxing them but here's the way I see it:

1) 4 games remaining with Loyola and St Peters. If the team is worth anything, they win all 4 of those (4-0)

2) 2 games remaining against Iona and Marist, the two MAAC teams they have already beaten. Let's say they split those games (1-1)

3) 10 other MAAC games. Let's say they split those games too, winning at home and losing away (5-5).

Put it together and you've got 10-6, which would make them 16-11 (12-6 MAAC, #2 seed?) going into the MAAC tourney.

I don't think that is unreasonable. Anything less would be disappointing.

That's what the Jaspers get for playing a weak non-conference schedule. Beating the hell out of Hartford doesn't get you anywhere.
