Subject: Update on Webcasting and WVOF

Sent and Email to Fairfield and and talked to WVOF, and here is the info I got. The WVOF site was down on Saturday, and did not come back up until last night (could have been sabotage). I have tried to get into WVOF now and it does work. The alternate address of "http://www.staff.fairfield.edu/ctimmeny" can be used as a backup. The official Fairfield site now goes Directly to WVOF.

There are some capacity issues with using the current Webcast architecture...... there is a limit of how many people can be connected to the Webcast. Its not a specific number but the limit is in the hundreds. Casey Timmeny told me thats why they would like to go to the Quicktime 6.0 Software to Webcast (that was last weeks issue for the Loyola Game). Going to Quicktime will allow thousands of people to be connected. It sounds like the right move, but it needs to be tested and proper download instructions need to exist so that the transition to Qucktime is seemless and easy to use for ALL Listeners. IMO, Quicktime is what I would call "Bleeding Edge" technology as it is the right direction to go, but might be a little painful getting there, especially for those people who have older or unique technology on their computer. Quicktime will need to be tested before its rolled out to the WVOF site, and I have offered by support in testing, and we should all try it out before it goes live.

For Tonight's game vs Canisius, go to the WVOF.com or WVOF.org

If you cannot get in, you can always listen to the Canisius Webcast at

First thanks for all your efforts on this JS. It's funny that I can always get the opposing teams webcasts but listening to WVOF is a 50-50 proposition. It seems like the only real solution is to quit my job and travel with the team. Good luck tonight stags
