Subject: NIT Games and PT

The goal of the NIT games is to Win, but there can be an alterior motive to start to prepare the team for next year. Would you change any of the playing time or strategy for the NIT????? Don't know if I would change much, but I would use the following unit as much time as possible (as a complete unit) as they might be the starting team next year: Let them see what they can do, and develop confindence and consistency.

PG - Todd
2G - Bell
SF - Maxwell
PF - Gai
CC - Thomson

Garcia, Delfico, Ajou, Kudjo, and Goode should still get their minutes as the game dictates. Bell would be the only one in the above line-up that might not be a slam dunk to start next year. I see him competing with Kudjo, Goode, Van Schaick at guard. However I also hope that Bell would play a lot of minutes at SF..... as backup to Max at SF and when Max gets minutes at PF.

When Max gets minutes at PF?!?!?! If he gains 20 pounds of muscle, maybe. And where does that leave Brad in your estimation? Just because he HAS not played does not mean he CAN not play. He may in fact play the widest on the team..in practice, since he has been overlooked in game situations when they needed another offensive post player who could also clear out on D.

I see Brad Feleccia battling for backup minutes at Center. If he proves effective at that position he could get upwards of 15 minutes a game. And then he would be in a position to win a starting job as a senior. There would be nothing better for this team thatn to see Feleccia's game step-up a notch .... we could use his ruggedness.

Right now I would think that Feleccia is behind Maxwell on the depth chart, and would expect that Max will put on 10 pounds of muscle over the next year. Max would not be effective at PF against the bigger teams, but he played PF vs Marist when he scored his 25+. I could see Max getting 5-10 min at PF next year.

Respectfully disagree with your ulterior motive. Name of game is to get to the next round. Play your best people...Garcia and Delfico still provide the heart and soul. Maybe if we can get a win or two, Gai quiets down. Thomson should not start.

Champ,
Heart and soul don't win games; no turnovers, rebounding, defense and made jump shots do.

Manhattan had emotion and we didn't, e.g. Minor. Garcia, Delfico and Ty are the ones I've seen with the ability to inspire the others. We've had great games on all the things you mention, so I am hoping to see a return to the style we played against Siena.

Minor is a little twerp who deserved to have a T thrown on him during that game. But I do agree about the emotion.

We need to go after whomever we may play as if we are playing for the championship, that means to play the best rotation available and the players who got us into the postseason in the first place. Don't forget that if we get beyond the first round, that we can possibly host a later round game. If we are lucky enough to be rewarded a home game, we must do our utmost to get the optimum number of fans in the Arena, and get them back again (either for another game or for next year). At this time, that doesn't mean experimenting for next year. With MVS, O'Sulli, and a third recruit, we should worry about that when the time comes.
