Subject: We escape the bullet

After a half hour meeting with TOT, Gai has decided that his future is in FF, and that he can improve so as to be a pro candidate in the future. He called talk on transferring a "misunderstanding", and his goal is to score 20 PPG on a consistent basis and average 5 blocks per game. With some adjustments in coaching and internal fortitude, he certainly has the physical capabilities to accomplish these goals. He also needs to increase his 6 rebounds up to at least 8-9 per game. Now all we need to do is to find another big man to help inside with scoring and rebounding. MOS looks like he will take over some of Oscar's duties, and MVS may help us with that elusive consistent scoring guard position.

[> One way for Gai to get 20ppg and 8-10rpg -- JoeStag, 08:39:26 03/15/03 Sat

One of the things Gai needs to do that will help him get to that level will be to increase his Offensive rebounds. Grab 2-3 more offensive rebounds, and he would almost be there. Gai is the #1 Defensive rebounder in the MAAC..... YES, better than Reaves, Mendez and all others. He really improved in that area because that was one of his main focuses this year. He will also improve next year.

However, Gai ranks 4th on the Fairfield team in Offensive Rebounding, with Delfico only 1 rebound behind in 5th place. I would imagine that Gai's focus next year wil be to play closer to the basket on offense (especially with Oscar gone), and also be more aggressive on the O-boards.

But, why wait till next year. How about TOT changing the offense a bit to get Gai positioned for the O-Board.... and then Gai can lead us to the NIT Championship.

o sullivan is an excellent passer. he should help gai by getting the ball to him.
teams are going to have to play mos on the perimeter. he has a sweet 3 point range stroke. during warmups i saw him make 7 out of 10 from the deepest part of the corner and 5 of 8 from the foul line extended arc.
