Subject: BC Scouting Report - Bell on Bell???

BC has played some pretty good hoops this year, but they have also struggled. IMO, a lot of that depends on 6-1 Troy Bell, who can be outstanding. He was the Big East Player of the Year and is shooting great this year. We will have the same problems with him as we did with Luis Flores. I thought Bell had somewhat of an off year as a Junior, after a great first two years...... but he has looked to regain his form again this year. Could we see some Bell on Bell??? Don't know if Goode is an option on defense, but it might be worth a try as he has a tendancy to bother any player.

The guy that intrigues me is the 6-7 frosh Craig Smith who is about 245 and strong in the Middle. He was All Rookie in the Big East, and also 2nd Team All Big East, very impressive as a Frosh. His numbers of 19ppg and 7.9rpg are big time. He uses his body well, so I see Oscar, Robbie, or Ajou being responsible for stopping him.

Don't know if Gai would be on Smith as BC also has a 7-0 center, Dornekamp, who gets 25mpg, but only scores 3.1ppg. BC also starts 6-4 Louis Hinnant who plays 28mpg but scores only 4.6ppg. They do have a 3rd scorer in 6-2 Ryan Sidney 12.5ppg, who leads the team in assists.

Bell, Smith, and Sidney are the main scorers, and they go only 7 deep, with 6-7 Andrew Bryant coming off the bench to shoot 45 three-pointers. Bell and Bryant are theirt main 3-point threats.

Bottom line is that this BC team is a very good Big East team, and we just cant focus on stopping Bell and Smith as the other players are probably just as good as any top MAAC Player.
