All these good ideas should be passed on to Gene Doris and Bridgesports. I am sure they would welcome the input. I would add:

- Anything that we can do to get kids and families more invoved is key. Reduce the price for kids
- Alumni have to be asked to buy season tickets, and asked to be sponsors
- Someone has to be 100% responsible at Fairfield for the success of season tickets, attendance, and sponsorships. It cant be just the AD or BridgeSports.
- That Marketing person(s) needs to motivated like all sales people.... by commissions and bonuses
- Money talks, maybe more Alumni/Friend giving should be redirected to Lyons Lademan/Men's Hoops.... but is up to each Alumni/Friend to do so.
- Sport stories in the CT Post and Stamford Advocate are the Best possible Marketing..... that needs to continue. Good job on that regard

[> [> [> Who should be the conduit to the AD with these ideas? -- STAGAL, 11:28:10 02/25/03 Tue

Earlier this year I harped on the advertising and marketing of Stag basketball, and JS asked for people who were interested to form a committee to bring new ideas to the AD. I let him know that I was interested, but nothing to my knowledge has been done. There are so many great ideas that have been posted, including the most recent ones above. I'm wondering if that committee idea should be revisited, and if so, than under whose direction? Should a private marketing firm be employed or could the School of Finance/Business be used to assist in this endeavor? How interested is the AD in promoting these ideas?

[> [> [> Drop ticket prices down - it will work -- Stagsfan, 14:20:54 02/25/03 Tue

I know of many alums who are not thrilled at the ticket prices and cost of food at Harbor Yard. Paying $18 to see St. John's is one thing, but $18 for MAAC basketball is another. A family of four must shell out $72 for four tix, and that's a lot for mid-major hoops. $72 to see a UConn-BC game, yes, but to see FU-Rider, no way.

We need to reduce ticket prices to about $14 and $8 for MAAC games, then raise them back up to $18 and $12 for big OOC games. I think attendance could go up for MAAC games.

And please will SOMEONE at FU try and take responsibility for marketing the home schedule! We need more mailers to alums around Septmeber. How about mailing a refrigerator magnet with a home schedule and picture of the inside of harbor Yard out to all alums within 50 miles? It sounds corny but believe me, things like this work. I have magnets from my plumber and church group on my refrigerator.

As head of 6th man club, what are your thoughts on this subject and could that committee be formed?

As head of 6th man club, what are your thoughts on this subject and could that committee be formed? Sorry for being such a pain, but there is definitely a passion for improving the way things are done which may benefit STAG basketball and its fans.

[> [> [> [> [> Marketing Committee -- JoeStag, 07:54:44 02/26/03 Wed

Stagal,

At the Last 6th Man Meeting, I did bring up the subject of the Fan's Marketing ideas, and I found out the Marketing meeting that had existed, which was attended by alumni and University staff, did not exist in that format anymore. Currently, the university staff and Bridgesports meet often to discuss what needs to be done. However, any Marketing ideas that Fans do have would be of interest of both Bridgesports and the University.

I would suggest sending any ideas to Ken Paul of Bridgesports and Gene Doris. But I also think that the idea if having a group of interested Alumni/Fans that meet with them on an ongoing basis could be a great thing. And that could be one of the suggestions that is made. The more people involved in the success of the program the better, and the ideas that everyone has are great.

I would love to organize something like that, but my plate is overloaded at this time.
