1) The MAAC's lack of media savvy is astounding. Last night's game, and the first FF/Manhattan game are the reason why the MAAC has to put together some sort of package with local cable companies, not just to get the product out locally , but to ensure that highlights are available for SPORTSCENTER and the like. Do you think ESPN would have run a segment on last night's game if highlights were available? YOU BET!!! You can't put a price on the amount of exposure the league could have gotten last night from Deng Gai's mind boggling blocks and Luis Flores' unbelievable drives and soft touch shots. The MAAC will be a low mid major until Sidney Greenstreet and his band of buffet busters are shown the door.

2) Do you think the MAAC could get an experienced officiating crew to work the biggest league game of the year? John Hughes really had to work last night to make up for the two Foot Locker employees with whom he was assigned. That should never happen and wouldn't in most leagues.

3) Did anyone else feel uncomfortable at the Draddy Gym last night with a capacity about 500 over the 2,500 person limit and not one police officer or fire department official in sight. This country is in a justified heightened state of alert, and NYC is as tense as I have ever seen, yet Manhattan College officials chose to protect us with yellow jacketed student athletes, all of whom were watching the game. Someone must be called on the carpet for this complete lack of common sense.

Was John Hueghes the light haired guy?????? Someone said he did the Indiana game the night before.

We knew for over a week that this game was going to be a sellout. Couldn't a TV package have been put together on some station to allow people to see the game. Has our society become so automated and planned that any dynamic change cannot be accomodated.

[> Manhattan considers Draddy's capacity 3000 -- The Red Curtain, 13:31:54 02/14/03 Fri

Manhattan still lists their capacity as 3000. That was the capacity before they added the reserved seating sections. I guess that's still the official number on record with the FDNY.

But, NYPD commissioner Ray Kelly is a Manhattan alum - he should have had some officers at the game as a precaution.

[> ESPNews had two highlights. -- StagNation, 14:29:21 02/14/03 Fri

ESPNews did have two highlights of the game. I've been watching the same two highlights all morning! The talked about Manhattan having the longest winning streak due to Louisville's loss the night before. They showed Todd's miss and Gai's rebound jam. They then showed the last shot being missed by Flores (although the camera angle was blocked). Showed the stats and MAAC records and said the Stags upset the Jaspers. I guess it is an upset, but not THAT big of an upset.

What I don't get is that ESPNews is a half hour show that runs throughout the day, like a condensed SportsCenter. How is that clip on a half hour show and not the hour SportsCenter. Also, I watched most of the 90 minute (It may have been 60 mins) College Hoops tonight on espn2 and didn't see the highlights. Seems odd that a 90 minuts show on college hoops wouldn't have the highlights while a 30 minuts "all sports" show would. Hey, at least we got that!
