Subject: Forgot to mention Bell, (Iowa, Midwest Cowboy)
Mike's looking better, played some good D, made a couple of nice steals, and came from behind on a Marist fast break to knock the ball away, then made an unbelievable backhand save on the baseline, and ended up some 20 feet later headfirst in the chairs by the band on the floor. Probably the play of the game. He got a standing ovation for his efforts and ended up with around 7 points.

We are going to enjoy having him here!! If he would shoot the 3, I'd be even happier. Maybe in time - he's got wonderful rotation.

Michael Bell is a star in the making. Next year, when he is not deferring to upperclassmen, he will be so far ahead of Kudjo, who I truly like and enjoy watching when he is attacking, that you may not see him in the rear view mirror.

The Play of the Game -- Running Man, 08:29:57 02/16/03 Sun
Stagal, that save by Bell was the play of the game. You used the right word when you described it as "unbelievable". You will not see a better play in college basketball. Bell is not as quick as guys like Todd and Goode but baseline to baseline he will beat anybody on this team in a foot race and probably most if not all players in this conference as well. And you can take that to the bank! He is FAST. Gotta love those trackmen! Right now his defense is ahead of his offense but anyone can see that there is potential in this latter area.

The reverse alleyoop dunk by Gai was a close second.

Even a 3rd good play by Bell -- JoeStag, 09:03:20 02/16/03 Sun
How about his headfake/pumpfake, got his defender in the air and then he drained the 13 footer..... and I think he did he get fouled on it too.
Agree tht his "D" is ahead of his "O", but I also like the idea that he is trying to score in the middle7-15 foot game, and not just the three pointer. Until he gets his confidence in the 3-pointer, he can be effective closer to the hoop.
RM, I said the same think to my wife this morning about Bell catching that guy cause of his track background.
I do Bell playing a lot of SF next year..... he would be amazing at that position, and give our offense a whole new look...... like a real shooting team.
