Subject: Next goal: 20 wins

As Puma mentions in today's article, our team's next goal is a 20 win season. At this point, that certainly seems to be a REALISTIC and ACHIEVEABLE goal in one of 2 ways. They are: 1. go 4-0 the rest of the way and win the first in Trenton. 2. go 3-1 and then win 2 in Trenton.

IMO we should have at least a 19 win season and no less, beating SPC, Loyola, and Rider, and then beating one of the lower seeded teams in the quarters. Then my crystal ball gets fuzzier, where does #20 come in? A win at Niagara will be the key. Will it come next Saturday (hopefully), or will it come in Trenton? I have a feeling we will play them twice more. If that's not the case, then we'll have to face either Iona or Siena again, my preference being Iona, and neither one will be a cakewalk. At least Siena won't have the home court advantage like they manytimes do.

If we do get to 20 and do not make it to the NCAA's, we may/should make the NIT given the fact that the field is expanded to 48, our RPI is good, we have some wins over credible teams, and have some ties to the NIT committee. I'm going out on a limb to say that we could even be returning to the Arena again this year with a first round home game (ala Providence in the mid-90's in New Haven). The Arena could be a moneymaker for the NIT committee and easily draw at least 6K in a nice new venue (assuming that firecracker mentioned in my previous post works!).

GO STAGS!! and no need to stop at 20 either......

The last thing this team should be thinking about is 20 wins. Sure we won two in a row, but prior to that we lost 3 out of 5 at home. Rider smacked Iona the other day. We simply can not take them for granted. We can't take St Peters for granted (they beat Manhattan). Niagara crushed us the other day. If we start dreaming about 20, we might not get to 18. First things first. Beat Rider.

Your's is a short term goal, and you're definitely right, one game at a time. The intermediate goal is to finish up the regular season strongly. The long term goal for this year would be to get into a post season tourney.
