This is the same coach who Puma quotes in his article today, "Who gives a (darn) if you are in first." Great attitude! Didn't Gonzo say something similar lately? I would think that all FF fans would care, especially playing a team that we SHOULD beat on our home court. If one of our goals is to aspire to be considered a mid-major power, then we'd better care!!! Placing all bets on winning at Trenton to get to the post season dance (remember one and done Manhattan?) will perhaps cost us a chance to get into the NIT, and a loss to Rider may have slammed the door shut on that. If another goal was to get 20 wins, we now need to sweep the remaining 3 regular season games, all away (including Niagara), and then win 2 in Trenton. Let me ask you, how realistic does that sound now???

Good teams, which we are, lose games. We've beaten Manhattan and Iona and we'll probably beat Niagra up there. We are good enough to win the MAAC tourney and not quite good enough to win every game we play in this league.

Our weaknesses are being exploited by 3-2 zones. That's just the way it is, and it can't change this year unless someone can step up and hit a baseline jumper or Gai can catch, shoot and pass effectively in the seam of the zone. More likely, we'll be relying on defense and grit.

I don't know about the rest of you, but we've suffered so long that I'm grateful for this team this year, even with its flaws.

79er, I agree 100% on this team winning on defense and grit. We struggle on offense, even when we win games. But that does not mean we can't improve it. Lets face it, a lot has gone right with this team this year, but a few things have not met expectations:

- Delfico has not been as consistent from 3 as he was last year 42%
- Ajou has not been heathly enough to give us any outside shooting
- Michael Bell has played well but we expected more than 5 three pointers and 24% from the arc
- Kudjo has some good Stats in 40% shooting, and 39% from three..... but very up and down.

I see no reason why these 4 players cannot start to drain shots.... we can still improve the offense, but we need to trust and have confidence in taking the outside shot. What ever happened to the saying "Let it Fly"

It is very obvious that at the beginning of games, our shooters are looking to pass inside no matter how much the defense is packing it in. That's why we are turning it over and getting poor shots late in the clock. How many times have we seen players wide open early in the shot clock pass up that shot and try to work the ball inside when there is nothing there. We are not adjusting quickly enough in the course of a game to the situation presented to us. That is why we fall behind and dig such large holes. That is what happened against Rider. Our offense started to click when we looked and started hitting outside shots. That opened up the inside also. WE SIMPLY CANNOT WAIT AS LONG TO MAKE THESE ADJUSTMENTS...Players such as Todd, Kudjo, Bell, Nick and Ajou must be given the freedom to shoot early in the clock when the opponent is packing it in. Also, when is the coaching staff going to realize that Ajou is not an inside player on offense and use him on the outside where he is most efffective. The adjustments must be made sooner than they are. It is very hard to continue to play from behind.

Well said. Ajou is past his best days, but his outside shot does look good most of the time. I wish Bell would look for his shot more often when early in the clock. It must be the gameplan that causes the restraint. Heck, even Goode should take 4-5 more outside shots per game.

When we lose, the other team gets 2nd, and third attempts off missed shots. A TEAM CAN NOT WIN when it gives up 2nd shots all night long.
The team that beat the Jaspers was not in Bridgeport last night.

Not when the focus is to double down on the ball and forces the player to immediately pass it out and not try to score against 2 or 3 players. WE are not recognizing this and adjusting accordingly. I am not against attacking inside, I am against attacking inside no matter what the defense is trying to take away.

79er, you nailed it. You can't win every game. Give Rider some credit. We're not the only team they've beaten lately. It's not worth freaking out over.

We have freshmen and sophomore guards, and our best player is a sophomore. As much as we want them to progress and improve every time out, they're still kids who are going to make mistakes.

Our weaknesses are well-documented, and opponents are catching on. But as long as we play tough defense, we'll be in every game. And if someone steps up (like we've seen most of this year), we'll probably win.

This has been a really good season, and I think there are more good things to come. Manhattan is the best team in the league, and we're in the next group with Iona, Niagara and Siena. We all figured a 13-5 or 12-6 league record, and we'll do no worse than that. So let's hang on to the No. 2 seed, and go from there. We can definitely win the MAAC.

This is the first time in a long time we've been in a position to play meaningful late-season games. I'm going to enjoy it. I like our chances against Niagara on Saturday. I don't think anyone is going to sweep the Stags this year.
