Subject: Is I-95 a major reason for attendance problems?

I guess everyone has seen the latest "Connecticut" magazine cover labeling I-95 the WORST highway in America. I live in lower Fairfield County, and let me tell you, it's a living nightmare getting around here, it's a major reason I want to move this summer.

Does anyone here think the brutal logjam of I-95 is becoming a major deterrent of fans from attending games, especially during the week? I know a few friends who are alums who told me they simply can't make it up during weekday games because they can't take a chance with traffic.
It seems rush hour is still going on between Greenwich and Bridgeport on many days well past seven o'clock. And if there is an accident - forget it!

Would eight o'clock starts help? Give people more time to get home, eat, avoid the tail end of rush hour?

I have actually taken Metro North to games and gotten rides home with friends, and I come from lower Fairfield County as well.
8:00 is too late to start one of these games. Anything ending after 10:00 PM is too late

I agree, 8:00 is too late for a week night. 7:30 is O.K. With a sucessful season, and proper marketing by the ticket dept. at Fairfield, season ticket sales should increase. However, people at Fairfield, must become much more enthusiastic and agrresive in their marketing approach. Perhaps their salary could be tied into ticket sales? In marketing, you would be surprised how effective this compensation approach is.

Rave,

Agree 100%, Its basically an industry standard to tie Sales and Compensation together...... because it works. Not doing it, is almost an admission that we are not using industry Best Practices.

I have been travelling to games on I-95 east through Norwalk, Fairfield and on to Bridgeport during the time you mentioned and not once did I get stuck in traffic.
