We lost to Siena with RM on the bench and nearly lost to Canisius with the guy ostensibly still a coach. let's not start cannonizing this guy.
We lost today because we missed our foul shots and Niagra made its attempts.
We also lost because of the recurring problem and our main weakness as a team, a lack of consistent permiter scoring. Teams have been following the lead set by Siena, they pack the paint and dare us to shoot over them We don't do that well. Perhaps Bell will help some, but I think this is likely to be a sore point for us the rest of the way.

If other teams are packing the paint why aren't our gds. shooting more? According to the box score our gds. Todd, Sogadzi, Goode & Bell had 15 attempts out of a total of 63 or about 23% of the attempted shots. If the other teams are now daring us to shoot from outside shouldn't we take them up on it & be prepared to crash the boards for off. rebounds & a possible putback?

Seems to me that Niagara may have caught Fairfield sleeping and that the distraction of McLeod's departure could have been a factor. Having said that, giving up 38 FT's (maybe many came at the end of the game, I don't know) is hard to overcome, especially when a very poor free-throw shooting team liek Niagara hits 79% of its FT, way above their average.

The refs were terrible and gave us nothing, none the less many of those fouls were at the end of the game.

Our biggest roblem, in my opinion, was our inability to prevent Niagara's point guard Alvin Cruz from controlling this game. Although he did not score much, he dissected our defense with the expertise and precision of a thoracic surgeon. His lookaway passes both to open guys inside and on the wings led to Niagara baskets. Goode and Todd tried to harass him all game long but were ineffective. I don't remember his turning the ball over once. Meanwhile on our offensive end we seemed to be working overtime trying to get a good look. Our strategy was to get the ball inside, and with our dearth of outside shooters, one can understand why.

Cruz ,who is a soph, was a guy whom we recruited but ,as the story goes, offered to another guy. If true, bad move!

I still don't understand why we didn't attempt more from outside. If they're concentrating on interior defense our gds. should have been getting some open looks. Even if they miss if our strength is our front line we should be able to grab some off. rebounds & get some easy baskets that way. Why keep trying to force it inside if they're defense is taking that away???

Everygame I go to the stags try to force ill-advised passes inside. In the first half against siena in albany, we must have had 12 turnovers trying to force the ball down low.

In my opinion, a pivotal part of our comeback were points by Ajou Deng from the perimeter. We lose the cansius game if not for outside shooting by KS.

I think the game plan against the stags is simple. Pack in the d and the stags will force the ball in and turn it over. They will pass up the outside shot. Unless we adjust the season is over. We loose all of our remaining games except loyola. This offense set is too easy to defend.
