Gai will almost certainly make first team.

Flores’ name has already been engraved on the POY trophy and deservedly so. Besides averaging 24 ppg, he’s averaging 5.5 rpg, 2.9 apg, 1.7 spg and shooting 47% FG, 90% FT and 42% from 3. Gai is averaging only 1 rpg more than the 6’2” Flores and 10 points less.

Garcia probably deserves 2nd or 3rd team, but I have a feeling he might end up on the “All-Overlooked” team. Nobody seems to give him much attention for his fine play. He really helped keep the Stag afloat while Gai was out.

Delfico has almost no shot at 3rd team as far as I can tell. Neither does Todd. The following 18 guys (in no particular order) are having better seasons: 1) Flores 2) Gai 3) Karangwa 4) Mendez 5) Darden 6) Fields 7) Smith 8) Dux 9) Mallory 10) Garcia 11) Clark 12) Reaves 13) Haddix 14) Holmes 15) Johnson – Manhattan 16) Eppeheimer 17) Mitchell 18) Cruz

Todd and Maxwell both have a shot at the all rookie team. Clark of SPC is the ROY, Haddix is a lock for all-rookie. Then guys like Jordan of Siena and Solliver, Burtt & McCullough of Iona, Konovelchik of Manhattan and Downey of Canisius all have similar numbers (most slightly better in fact) as Todd & Maxwell. Todd & Maxwell seem to have had quite a positive effect on FF’s record, though, so that might help them. My guess is Todd makes it, Maxwell doesn’t.

COY – right now TOT (amazingly) is looking like the leader. Gonzo also has a shot. Perhaps Lanier if Siena finishes very strong.

FF's depth will hurt them placing players on these awards. Except for possibly Gai's unique defensive skills, this is a true team where star performances get shared across many. To me, I'd prefer the balance going down the roster stats any day over a couple of street stars. It is irrelevant. Who cares as long as the other teams are in our rear-view?

The only truly important post season award is the MAAC Championship Trophy.

At the same time, I think other than Gai and Garcia, there are no All-MAAC players on Fairfield (A healthy Ajou Deng certainly would have been one, though).

The Stags have a lot of solid players, who are not quite All-MAAC caliber, and it seems that a different one or two or three of them step up every night.
