What a difference a couple of months make. I can probably count on one finger the people on this board who thought FF would be in this position 2 short months ago. College Basketball is a great, crazy sport.
I almost left the game last night with 5 minutes to go in the 1st half, it reminded me of past Stag teams. But the Stags played a pretty good next 25 minutes. Siena has some talent, believe me, but they desperately, desperately need a point guard.
Onto bigger and brighter things. This team is better than I thought. They are 5-0 on the ROAD in the conf., think about that for a minute. If they win Thursday, which I think they will, the race for the regular season conf. crown is OVER, OVER, OVER in Jan. None of the teams in this league are going to come into Bridgeport and win, NONE.
Manhattan is going to walk into a buzzsaw on Thursday. There is no love lost between the programs, players or coaches. They play that city, ratball style of game, and have no size. Tough kids, good players in their own right, but FF has the 2 great equalizers, TY and DG. I hope FF is an underdog again, I really do. This team has b-lls, poise, toughness, and most of all TALENT. The common denominator all season is tough, get in your a--, man defense, quite fun to watch. This will be an old fashioned backyard scrap on Thursday, but FF has more talent and toughness. The biggest regular season game that TOT has had, and for you long time fans, the biggest one in a long, long, long time.
Trivia question for you old timers, if FF beats Manhattan and ST. Petes, which I think they will, is this the best regular season week in their history, ( having beaten Iona, Siena, Manhattan, and St Petes) or where does it rank???
This team has not yet put together a collective 40 minute performance, if/when they do, they could be really, really special!!!

OMM, once again I appreciate your hoopIQ and insights. Isn't Siena alot like Fairfield last year-talanted front court players but light on guard play? IMO that was the difference last night.
While Haddix is very good and probably deserves the multiple ROW awards- how about a nod for Mr. Todd?

Some may say we had a better week in 85/86 but I think you might have to go back to 1978. Things were going great back then until we ran into Nick Galis and that future TV color guy.GO STAGS!!! I'll see all my old friends on Thursday night!!!5,000 plus in the Yard!!!!

The scary thing about this team is what OMM said, which is that this team has not played 40 minutes of good basketball. The first 15 minutes of the Sienna game was the worst offense this team played all year. Good defense, Todd and Ajou kept us in it. The last 10 minutes of the game was a blitz. Every guy on the Saint's team ass was dragging big time. The stags refused to lose.

The week is not over yet, but the Stags are in position to make this season a great one---and that should be enjoyed, as it does not happen to often.
