Subject: GONZO
I am sorry to say anything negative on such a great night for the MAAC. But, Gonzo is unbearable to watch. His cheerleading, hysterical, whiny, "where is the camera" act is tiresome, cheesy and thankfully not the one we have to watch every night. I'll take Timmy any day of the week over that jerk.
I was kinda hoping TOT took a swing at the little dweeb after the game. Certainly the kinda guy you love to hate. Him and the Backstreet Boy assistant coaches he has high fiving him the whole game.
I'd be a great coach to if I had Luis Flores dropping 44 every night. Legend in his own mind.

Luis got 12 the other night, the team won by double digits and Gonzalez was their biggest cheerleader.
He's in the Lappas, Fraschilla mold, but without the post-season success (yet). Nevertheless, the Jasper turnaround has been remarkable, mainly because he just hangs around the stoops. Plus, with Big Pete Mulligan on the squad next year, they could be even better.
Hey, I would take this guy any day, especially when compared to the empty suit on the nationally recognised Rose Hill campus.

Best coach in the MAAC by far. 34-12 over the past year and half.
Get's his players up for every game, great enthusiasm, and players feed of of that.
Manhattan won because their players play with great tuffness. Gonzo instills that in his players that's why he is the best coach and Manhattan is the best team in the MAAC.

Perfectly said. And remember the garbage he inherited after John Leonard succeeded Fran and brought down everything that Stevie and Fraschilla built up.

Best coach? Maybe, but what has he won? Come March a good (best) coach has his team ready to play/peak. If chef Gonzo was serving his signature dish (Filet of Jasper) in March it would be sent back as being overdone. Tell the chef I ordered it rare, "as in a Manhattan victory in March". "This dish is burned."

While it makes it easier that Gonzo has the best offensive player in the league in Flores, his teams do play hard and play with good "D"..... and thats a good blueprint to have for a successful team. His MAAC Tourney record will haunt him until he proves otherwise.
Just think, if Manhattan does get the #1 seed, Gonzo's team won't play until the Semis..... possibly facing Fairfield, Iona, Siena or Niagara in the opener. Not an easy game for someone who will have pressure to win.

No doubt about it, he has to win tournament and post-season games. That's what both Lappas & Fraschilla did.
To me, his most glowing deficiency is that he has a losing record in close games where Manhattan HAS THE LEAD with less than 90 seconds to play. His crunch-time strategy & late game team execution is suspect. Come tournament time, double-digit victories show up less and less.
