The real problem with the officiating was that they set the tempo for a wide open game in the first half and slammed the door in the second half. The teams were "allowed to play" for the first 20 minutes in which 19 fouls were called. In the second half, 37 fouls were called. Officials CANNOT send a message by letting it go in the first half and change it in the second.

In addition, it was great to seet the students turn out but they are USELESS unless the university and the Arena find a way to GET THEM ON THE FLOOR.

Totally agree about getting the students on the floor. We need them to keep coming and generating some excitement. Hard to do where they are. Also, how is it that Jasper fans got second row seats right behind our bench, while the Stags families are in the rafters? Every other school gives the visiting team crappy seats.

I saw the exact same thing either last year or the year before. I went to Manhattan for the FU game. The first half was pretty rough and loose. Plus right at the end of a very even hard fought half, there were some "homer" foul calls that didn't happen. (I remember Garcia getting beat up a couple of times and the ball stolen.)

I don't remember who the refs were. But you could almost imagine the refs at half-time deciding that they needed to tighten things up, and oh, by the way, we probably shafted Fairfield at the end of the half. The second half starts and every ticky-tack touch was called on Manhattan. They had 8-9 fouls in 3 minutes. You could see the Manhattan players looking at each other as if asking what the heck is happening.

They just have to be consistent, not only between the teams but over the time of the game. Helps the flow.

The students came. They were pumped..... but they were shoved in the corner. I am sure the students want to involved, part of the show, and close to the action.

I think they need to be behind the baskets. The arena needs the risers and railings

don't know if this is just a rumor but apparently the arena people would rather have the students up in the corner because they are easier "to control".....i personnally think that's a BS excuse....they should get the risers and sit the students down there if they want to sit there....i don't think the box office even sells those seats to anyone...they set those seats up for "show"....

Definitely, that would help us a lot and disrupt opponents, esp. for foul shots. The Arena police won't let anyone down there. It may also help energize the crowd more. The reason sec. 104-106 is so quiet is that they are mostly the geriatric crowd of loyal season ticket holders who were also quiet at Alumni Hall (seated on right side there). It may be their way of preventing heart attacks (just kidding).

FU is a small enough place there could be dialogue between the administration and the students around what is acceptable behavior and what is over the line if they are allowed to sit on the floor. And the Arena mgmt would have to accept the give and take to get to a situation acceptable to all yet still a bit raucous.

I am not hopeful though. Is a some sort of NCAA regulation or did someone just put the fear of God in Arena mgmt about the beer bracelets.
