Thanks Hank. The discussion is great and reveals , basically, everything we knew. It's a very sad state of affairs where a program can longer recruit the "old fashioned" way. It's also not a good thing for HS senior classes, other than those kids who are 4 and 5 star players. If you're a 1 or 2 star player, you're probably headed for a D3 or D2 program. If you're a 3 star kid, you're probably headed for a low major program or fringe mid-major school. The coaches have to work very quickly and hard to find kid who's not going to bring a lot of deviant baggage with him to their rosters. The coaches cannot possibly develop a relationship under the current NIL/Portal arrangement. It's become professional basketball at the amateur level. We will no longer have 1,000 point scorers, and 500 rebounders at Niagara. There won't be anyone who will ever break Calvin's records at Niagara. No records will be broken in the four year assist and steals categories.

In a nutshell, what we already have is what will be , at least for the foreseeable future.

Beyond sad, beyond being acceptable.

It's an all-around rotten state of affairs, but there's nothing the poor fan can do...we can either like it or lump it. Well, I don't like it but I'm not ready to lump it either, not just yet.

Tom, that's about the gist of it. Either like it OR lump it. There's really no in between option available to us. Root for your program OR stop supporting it in any way.
