While I don't think this is a MAAC contending roster, I do think they'll be okay. Davis will likely be their breakout star in my opinion. I like Olumide Adelodun having watched him at Ohio. My early expectation is for them to be an average MAAC squad.

Thx, Mike...I'm a bit worried by your assessment that Niagara will "be OK"...not much of an endorsement, but we'll see...GP has been able to put back-to-back 16 win seasons together the last 2 years, let's hope he can do it again.

Well, I think Mike is saying NU should be a middle of the pack team. My guess is that means an average record, say, 16-16, 15-17, 14-18. No great shakes, no post season tournaments, no nothin'. I could be wrong, but that's what it "sounded" like to me. You know, the usual !

I think you're right, Soup, but am I wrong for wanting more than a .500 season?

Oh hell no, you should absolutely want and expect better than a .500 season. As we have seen since JAM left, the great majority of our seasons are below, at , or slightly over .500. NU is basically around a .500 program. We may want more, but the harsh reality is that, it is what it is.

I will be going into the 2024-25 season with very low expectations. I expect no better than a .500 season. It is obvious to me that for GP, it's just a stable job for him with a fair salary. GP gets the bragging rights to say that he is a D-1 level basketball coach, one of only about 335 or so that exist. I think, at this point in the NIL/portal era, that's good enough for him.

I would assume that GP would not be content to spend his entire coaching career at Niagara and therefore be motivated to win more than 50% of his games. Not at all sure that the status quo is "good enough for him".

It's a different " ballgame " today. The NIL/Portal has changed everything. GP is lucky to just fill out a roster in today's college basketball scene. He and his staff have to recruit like a chicken with its' head cut off, if you know what I mean. He probably would not even recruit 80% of this current roster out of HS, but he's forced to fill out a roster, so he takes what he can get ; and he and his staff have to try to forge a "team" out of this kind of mess every year.
