He even remembers talking to me after Niagara lost to Maryland in the NIT Championship game. We go back a long ways. Tommy has known I love Niagara since 1970. I have a lot of alum friends all over Michigan who still keep in touch with me, especially about all things Spartans. Why would I make something up ? This was a big deal. When you mentioned that you hadn't heard any "rumblings" on the MSU board concerning the NU game, I laughed and thought to myself: "Why would one single, solitary supporter of MSU have a single word or "rumbling" about being pitted against NU, one of only 5 teams in the country that didn't return a single scholarship player"? When I posted that NU was playing Houghton, the only "rumble" I read on this board was Maldez noting that Houghton is a Division 3 school. There was no rumbling here and for good reason. Houghton was 7-19 last season and lost by 30+ points to Nazareth. I couldn't imagine who would "rumble" about MSU playing NU and was just making light of it, that's why I said "Make something up". Make no mistake this is an annual HUGE night for Spartans all over the country AND Niagara is a big part of it. It's a fantastic venue for the Purps to experience and play in. I will be very proud to see Niagara featured in the opening game. If Niagara was playing there in the 2nd or 3rd OOC game for State, it would be just another game.
