Only 2 weeks left to the start of Men's Hoops for a new season; and guess what, not a single word about it from NU!!! Of course, the AD did send out the Season Tickets invoice; that's all, not another word. So I guess (as always) we will have to wait & see what type of product will appear. Does GP have a gag order not to make announcements etc? Pretty soon the school will be begging for donations for the P&W Fund plus NIL $. I wonder how the faithful followers will respond?? What say you?

Such an approach goes contrary to literally every marketing principle there is.

The should have send intro videos every week to get to know everyone. You know, because they have a new team every year.

There are very few faithful followers left. NU is totally missing the boat promoting their hockey and bball to young families in and around Lewiston. I was at my sons fourth Bday party over the weekend. I was talking to some dads of kids in his class. I told them that we go to a few games every year at NU. They are cheap. Kids love them. And they serve beer. Of the 8 dads around our little chat circle...Two had no idea NU had a hockey team. The others had no idea they games were of value.

There is virtually no value in NU basketball or hockey in actually rooting for the team or the players. The value is in it is something to do. No one goes to Bisons games and cares in the Bisons win or lose.

NU can not cry poor in the new NIL land and then do nothing to grow their fan base.

Unfortunately their value "prop" especially in hockey, to the local community, does not matter if they are D1 or D3. In many SUNYAC towns the home hockey games are packed and the thing to do. No one cares it is D3 hockey.

First thing NU could do is offer flexible family mini packs tickets to hockey. You buy 4 seats. Each game comes with $1.00 hockey dogs for kids and free pepsi. In addition to your 4 seats which you can use for any say 5 home games. You get an additional 4 seats for free to invite friends and their family. Each year if there is a home game during your birthday month you get 20 free tickets and pizza party before the game. If your birthday is not during hockey...You a rain check.

If you are part of the family kids club you get free admission throughout the year to open skates at Dwyer. And when its your birthday you get 25% off at the merch stand.

These types of things are being done by every A,AA, and AAA baseball team in the country.

With the new era of NIL no one will ever really care about the players. Who has the time to learn about them or follow them knowing they will probably be gone. You have to market the value of the event. Which for both hockey and bball is actually quite high.

This will not solve the NIL riddle. But it would be nice for the kids not to play in front of arenas that are 75% empty!

Yep, the basketball season kicks off in just 2 weeks and not a peep from the administration...no word of an exhibition game.

Not just that but the roster on PE.com has not been updated since June...no pictures of the players, no bios, no stats....and here it is October 21.

The school has always done the minimum to boost the basketball program, but it has managed to reached a new minimum: Nothing.

You know, just to remind you folks who have been sleeping since the 1960s, Niagara is not a sports school. It's primarily a college with a basketball program. The diversity today on campus which includes more than the make up of students by gender and nationality and the location as a commuter school doesn't become a part of one's everyday life.

Also, in the past the local businesses were more involved whereas nowadays, everything is dictated from within the walls of the school. They have some sponsors and perhaps with the P&W they raise a nice little amount of money, but it's never enough money because the one thing the school does best is ask for money.

The school is not concerned with "selling out the place" for basketball. It's not a priority and past experience has taught them that big crowds don't equate to big donations (Right, Eagle)? Still looking for your name in the Annual Report of donors.

So complain all you want to. It's not the worst run AD in the nation by NO MEANS. Buy the marketing is flat lining. That I will admit to.

Your whole post was about how awful NU athletics is then you throw shade at someone who doesn’t contribute to aforementioned dysfunction?

Your points are well taken. But really, who would donate a dime?

They operate the program well as far as administration goes, but their budget has been cut to the bones so they don't have much in the way of an AD for marketing. They're bare bones.

That's what I was saying.

Maybe. But businesses make it work every day with no budgets. Maybe they should look at it like a start up. And think outside the box. And if not, maybe just fold the tent.

Kind of like a fait accompli vibe.

Niagara hasn't been packing them in since Calvin Murphy and even under JAM when it was a reasonably well known good program without too much publicity it wasn't packed either.

This is small ball RCM. And I don't want to remind you that NU hockey is small time as well.

Just the way it is.

Yep. Very sad. That’s why on Ticketmaster there are about 200 pre sold tickets to hockey’s home opener

Very sad.
