In reply to: Maldez 's message, "Niagara at Mercyhurst Saturday 7:00" on Saturday, November 02, 11:46:24am

Went last night. Fun game! Kids had a blast. Attendance looked to be about 700 or so. Really disappointing. All of the lasers and painted walls and all of that stuff looks flat our embarrassing with no one there. Spoke with some students and asked about attendance. They said "every one goes home, there is nothing to do".

The team itself is very fast. And plays very loose. Not sure the run and gun will work in the long term but its a nice brand of hockey to watch. The Hoskin kid is very good. Hopefully he makes it all four years at NU! The team kind of went through the ringer to start their season but seems to be battle tested by it! Very encouraging.

I think maybe more people would go to Dwyer to see games if they re did the seating area. Like if they cut down total number of seats (they are never selling the place out again) and put in cool plush seats it would be great. The rink is incredible cold (much much colder than other rinks) and the seats are just not comfortable.

The whole center ice area they could put in cool movie theater seats with drink holders. Dwyer might be the worst rink to actually see a game in all of D1 hockey. But I guess for a $15.00 ticket you can not expect too much.

Good post...700 fans in the seats doesn't sound too horribly bad, as I've seen hockey games on the road where the place looked empty. Hope the Purps keep their unbeaten streak alive tonight!
