I agree! I think the only way to really make it work is get more fannies in the seat.

I was at the game 2 or 3 weeks ago. There were 3 broken sticks I saw break during the game. That is over $1200 for those three sticks. The ice time is probably $900 which NU has to pay to Dwyer Arena.

Lots of what is happening, like many of these challenges in college sports, is happening to everyone.

As I posted earlier, I was told by someone very close to the college hockey scene in WNY that the new scholarship rules will very much negatively impact the entire AHA. I don't know enough about it to know if that is true.

Teams that have been in NU's conferences which have folded include
Fairfield
Iona
Findlay
Wayne State
Robert Morris (not sure if they are back now?)
Huntsville (not sure if they are back now)
AIC


NU has a nice rink. Close to Canada. And is leaning into the NIL game. This is a good sign.

I wonder how this all would have turned out if the original place for the NU hockey was completed...A complete bowl rink and entrance into an established conference?
