In reply to: RCM 's message, "AIC Goes D2 in hockey" on Wednesday, November 13, 07:14:46pm

when Sabres were added to the nhl and then the bills starting getting good in 86, this town went from sports town to Sabres/Bills Town. There is only so many nights NU hockey can play on without competition. I remember when Niagara added hockey, people thought the hockey fans would start coming, false, they're sabres fans. NFHS basketball outdraws NU now.

Yes great point.

And the money for doing things has been sucked up by the bills. I just had to pay $12,000 for my PSL. As such I cancelled my Sabres half season ticket package. Less money to spend on other things.

This will also filter to arts, theatre, etc.

Personal Seat Lincense new stadium. $12,000 for my seats (6k/ seat). Tickets also increased 70% for new stadium.

Basically the PSL is you buy the real estate. And then still have to buy tickets each year.

Saw in the Buffalo Snooze that the stadium cost is now $2.1 billion. It went from $1.4 billion, to $1.7 billion, and now $2.1 billion. Apparently the Pegulas are responsible for any cost overruns - all that means is they'll pass the excess costs on to the fans.

The Pegulas will likely be winding down their operations soon. I anticipate the Sabres will be up for sold within the next two years. It seems they’re also selling off equity in the Bills, likely planning to eventually cash out once Josh Allen is past his prime. With Terry Pegula set to turn 79 in five years, it's reasonable to expect they'll be looking to sell to the highest bidder at that point.
