Before dropping any sports' program, one needs to see what alumni money supports. My guess is most substantial donations come from folks over 60. They were basketball fans. Yes Niagara will never be a top 50 team but many believe this current mess of Nil/ transfer rules will lead to a new alignment in college sports for mid majors in a few years. The Bigs want no NCAA oversight as they become professional teams..
