Even the old rivalries, including Canisius , are not the same. The vibe is all gone.
St. Bona, St. John's, Syracuse, LaSalle, St. Francis, NY (totally gone) are no longer real rivalries as in the "old days".
The courts, the NCAA, the conferences (alignments) all have had something to do with it.
NIagara may never have been a national power, other than some great seasons thru the 1950s and 1969-70, and some regional sunshine during the JAM years, but it didn't do a damn thing to remain somewhat relevant. JAM tried to make Niagara a regional power by being viable enough to be a MAAC contender every year. He was very successful. Niagara rewarded him by forcing him out. Now look what we have ! Between forcing JAM out AND all the negative changes in college basketball that have taken place, "we" are now HERE, and it SUCKS !!!
