I agree Tefra.

But the differnt dynamic at play now is now we REALLY have no chance. Before if the team was bad or the coach poor, you could make an argument "well if we just get rid of Casey". Or "this is a young group, they just need more time".

NU settle for mediocrity with no for sight as to what was coming. And if they had it they just agreed not to participate in the next iteration of college sports.

I would say that probably 10-12 win seasons are as best as we will do from here on out.

With out large sums of money to throw at players they have no chance. And heres the biggest kicker. You need large sums of money to attract below average players. There will never be another Juan Mendez or any other "star" at NU ever again. If they find a diamond in the rough who blasts through his ceiling that player will get paid elsewhere after one season.

Years of no investment, no engagment, no press conferences, etc. has left NU totally unable to compete now. There is no catching up, there is no way to move forward.

Investment over the past decade -> Wins -> Fan Interest -> Media Interest -> More Wins-> A posistion to have the guns to compete. None of that happened. NU and about 80-90 other D1 schools got left in the dust in basketball. And probably 200 schools in football.

I agree. Prior to open movement and NIL, we could look forward to recruiting a special player, or maybe developing one. Now, we have to rely on transfers that have been passed over by 160 other programs.
