That's a very natural part of the portal, but takes two to tango.

I count it as a win since they finished the year with what, 6 players? NU basketball has zero expectations for success.

Her stats were for 2023-2024; I don’t see her on their roster for 2024-2025. I wonder where she played ? What am I missing ?

She probably didn't play anywhere last year...that's the kind of player Niagara signs.

At this point, we should go D3. I'm being serious. Constant roster turnover.

Roster Turnover Over the Last 3 Years.

In total, 27 players have spent just one season with us plus 3 spent two years with us.

Out of those 27, only three played during the year I didn’t count:

Noah Thomasson

Sam Iorio

Touba Traore

We had only three players appear in back-to-back seasons:

Lance Erving

Braxton Bayless

Harlan Obioha
(Two of them graduated; the third either graduated or transferred.)

The 27 One-Year Players:

Aaron Gray

Ahmad Henderson II

Aime Rutayisire

Bryce Moore

Damondre McKnight

David Mitchell

Dre Bullock

Jaeden Marshall

Jahari Williamson

James Henderson Jr.

Jhaylon Martinez

Joe Kasperzyk

Josiah Davis

Justice Smith

Justin Page

Keith Kiner

Kwane Marble II

Luke Bumbalough

Malik Edwards

Noah Thomasson

Olumide Adelodun

Randy Tucker

Sam Iorio

Touba Traore

Will Shortt

Yaw Obeng-Mensah

Zion Russell

Nice work, wcpurple, but it makes me cringe to look at all the players that have bailed on Niagara.

Yes, I was curious but what is the point if we're going to have different 15 guys every year.

Tremmell Darden of Niagara will never happen again. Watching guys go from 6ppg to 20 ppg by senior year.

Yep, watching a player develop from a freshman to a senior star is a thing of the past unless something dramatic changes with the NCAA rules.

Players enter the transfer portal to explore other programs, seeking better opportunities for playing time, development, or a more suitable academic or personal fit. The portal allows athletes to gain more control over their college careers and potentially increase their chances of maximizing their NIL opportunities. It also offers a structured way for schools to manage the transfer process.

Here's a more detailed look at why players enter the transfer portal:

Seeking Playing Time:

Athletes may feel they are not receiving the playing time they desire at their current school and may enter the portal to explore programs where they might have a better chance of starting or getting more opportunities.

Better Fit:

Players might find that the academic or personal environment at their current school is not a good fit for them, and the portal allows them to seek out a more suitable institution.
NIL Opportunities:
The rise of Name, Image, and Likeness (NIL) deals has made the transfer portal a significant factor in college athletes' decisions. Players may enter the portal to explore NIL opportunities at different schools, potentially boosting their financial prospects.

Career Development:

Some players may enter the portal to find a more challenging environment or a program with a coaching staff that better aligns with their development goals.
Change of Circumstances:
Players may enter the portal due to coaching changes, program restructuring, or changes in their personal circumstances that make their current school less appealing.

Exploring Options:

The portal allows players to test the market and see what offers they receive, even if they aren't necessarily seeking an immediate transfer.

Lack of Scholarship:

If a player's athletic scholarship is reduced, canceled, or not renewed, they may be allowed to enter the portal without penalty.

They see
Better facilities
Better coaching
Better campuses
More of a college feel
Etc etc
NU is the place of last resort. Like a penal colony.
