In reply to: Terfra 's message, "Expansion" on Tuesday, April 28, 08:25:57pm

There will be plenty of mid and low major programs in that expansion if that happens. WHY ? Because there are many D1 mid and low major conferences whose winners will get automatic bids. As long as mids and lows remain D1, there will be plenty of those teams on the Big Dance. They can expand all they want but they can't keep those conference winners out

The other blow to mid majors that flooding the tourney with more power conference entries will be that more mid majors will get assigned to the new opening round format, meaning fewer will make the Final 64, which most people will perceive as the actual start to the tournament.
As NU fans, I guess we really don’t have much to worry about anyway. I attended both (well, 3 if you count the game in Dayton) NCAA games NU played since I graduated and I don’t think there will be another in my lifetime.

Yeah, not much to look forward too if you follow the Purple Beagles.
