If such a thing exists. This is GP's last year. Sixth I believe. That's how long Chris Casey made it here, but prior he made hinself a good stable of supportive friends and I believe that this is more that one ingredient in what gave Chris a second chance at a D1 school. He was making bank as an assistant there before he became head coach (well more than NU). The Purple One..Purp 1....Joestradamus pedicts that GP, with friends like Chris did who knew what a dump NU was to coach at will rise him and his new family up and give him a second chance making at least NU was paying him...to be an assistant coach someplace. And I say God bless the man nd his growing family.

The coaching fraternity is a very small group of people and the #1 rule is to get to know everyone because anyone of them can make it if you don't and bring you along for the ride.

That's why they call NU the place where coaches come to die.....except those who know how to beat them at their own game. The coaches leave for a brighter future. The losses remain firmly on campus forever.

Along the way, Coach K has had GP's back and Niagara has still regressed.

There's no telling what kind of help Coach K has given GP...for sure it's not sending players Niagara's way.

Hey Tom , Coach K can't force kids to enroll at Niagara. I would bet money, Coach K has tried to influence some kids at That level to consider NU.

Understand the GP discourse but he is light years better than CC.
He will get a High Major asst coach position, that will pay double/triple what Niagara is paying him.
(CC is an awful coach and only got FF because of the scandal. He has the best arena in the NE, school with tons of money, 45 mins from NYC and is still awful).

Simon Grey cannot make the next hire.

Well, at the end of 2022, NU reported that GP's compensation was $354,000 with an additional contribution of about $47,000.

I would expect that whatever he goes to, he will be well compensated.

Chris Casey was a master recruiter compared to Greg Paulus but couldn't coach worth a crap...GP is a master coach compared to CC but can't recruit worth a crap.

Sorry, recruiting in 2025 vs 2019 is vastly different at a school like Niagara.
Money talks (which FF has plenty of) and is driving recruiting.

NADA ! FF is 7-5 this year but has not won a single meaningful game. They had to go into OT just to eke out a 77-75 win over Stonehill. Their record of 7-5 doesn't look bad but look at their wins, eg, a less than impressive victory over Central Conn. State and some other cupcakes without the filling.

For all their money and a beautiful arena , simply put, FF has accomplished JACK SHIT ! I don't see any 4 or 5 star kids wearing Stag uniforms. How many NCAA or even NIT tournaments has FF been to in the last 10 years ?

Somebody has to win a conference title in these low mid major or low major leagues, yet none of those LOW schools are that much better off than Niagara. And if you take a look at the complete national rankings they are all basically at the bottom percentile of all college basketball programs.

The bottom line is that the Courts, the NIL and portal have killed college basketball at schools like Niagara. In Niagara's case, the THEIR ADMINISTRATION has further decimated and ruined the earlier legacy Niagara had built; which was the Taps years, the Murphy, 1970 team, and the JAM era.

Fairfield is just another losing proposition with no regional or national significance , whatsoever !!!

Noah Best, who transferred from Fordham.

One or two 3 star players are not a rarity on a mid or low major roster. So Fairfield , having one is no great shakes. Every once in a while Niagara gets one.

But to say that FF is some sort of anomaly because they have some money or a larger endowment than Niagara , or to imply that is just stupid.
