A lot of whining going on on this board. Suck it up ! Look for the positives (like Williams big game) while recognizingthe the negatives. NU is a Div I institution. Lets just get better snd not give up like some are suggesting !

Give me a break Miss Piggy, will ya ? Have you no dignity ? Niagara is even beyond being a laughing stock. It is, non-atguably, at or near the bottom of D1 basketball rankings. You suck it up buttercup!

NUSuperwhatever - you are pathetic - why did you come back to this board and peddle all your negativity ? There are up seasons snd down seasons and maybe a couple in a row . Get some pride in the School if you even went there.

Look, the courts, the NIL and portal ruined any chance for Niagara to substantially improve. It's like taking free will out of the picture and having determinism interjected by the aforementioned threesome of court action, the portal and the NCAA.

Sorry I was so rough with you, but you did sort of attack us even though you know Niagara really isn't in control of its fortunes.

Pig, I'm probably the most die-hard Niagara basketball fan you'll ever come across and even I find it nearly impossible to stay faithful to this year's team...they play hard and scrappy but the talent just isn't there...I'll continue watching as much as I can, hoping against hope that something clicks and the Purps play better, but it's a hard way to go.

While I agree that the tslent isn’t there this year it still doesn’t mean that you give up entirely on the Program and throw in the towel. I’ve lived with this team since the mid 60’s.. even in Calvin’s era we only had one winning season but were nationally ranked. . It comes and goes for the smaller schools but that doesn’t meanyou give up. NU is not St. Francis !

Points well taken, Pig, and it's refreshing to have an upbeat voice come shining through all the negativity and the drum-beat of "Go D3! Go D3!"...keep positive!

The thing you have to have are the tools to compete and the three forces took the ability of teams like NU to be able to compete. It's not just money because only a small number are throwing out the big money, but look at how the program has been operated for the last 50 years, the amount of attention and effort put into it by the admin and the facilities themselves. Those tell you that the future looks bleak because NU has been a poor steward of their athletics programs for as long as I can remember.

When your within 10 teams from the bottom, you are doing about as bad a job as you possibly can. It's a race to the basement.

My whole take on this is why can't Niagara be competitive with the other schools in the MAAC? What does Siena and the other conference schools have that Niagara doesn't? And don't tell me money.

The number #1 reason is that their coaches (NU) can't recruit the talent the other coaches can. You can't win without talent, and that's where the "competitive" aspect has to start. Canisius is largely in the same boat. Poor facilities, location, lack of a community feel to the campus and a poor history of success, not only in one sport but most sports. Mostly though they can't get better players than the other guys can.

Chris Casey recruited well at Niagara (and of course so did JAM) so don't tell me it can't be done...it's just something Greg Paulus and his staff don't seem to have a knack for.

Nothing positive to look forward to. Who was the last NU player to play more than two years at NU? Who can name 8 players on this team off the top of their heads? Nothing is going to turn this around. Team is regularly losing by 25 points. Cant even beat schools ranked 350 or lower. Time to pack it in!

They don't lead their competition in a single measurement according to their cumalative team statistics.
